I am Tavo

As a photographer, scientific illustrator and biologist, I've spent my life travelling to some of the most amazing places on the Planet, documenting wildlife and cultures. My work is frequently used to support research on biodiversity, conservation and cultures. Although some of my pictures are featured in books, magazines and websites, today's technology allows us to reach a wider audience by using web technologies and social media, in a more "intimate and personal way".

My work is focused mainly in the relation between man and the environment, as well as human societies and their cultural development. I'm currently working at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, where a new chapter of my life started living an experience far from my Andean origins. This city is an amazing place to meet people from all around the World, from almost any culture and religion, and it gives me the chance to see "the other face of the coin".

But it's also a place where you can see the best and worst of human nature. I decided to share some of the images that tell the stories that I collected along my life, and make them available in a printed format, along with the new images of this city. Each image tells a story and shows a different aspect of wildlife, the environment and our human nature.
